Doddington Dairy

Doddington Dairy - Northumberland’s Legacy of Artisan Cheesemaking.

Nestled near the rugged Cheviot Hills, Doddington Dairy has been crafting exceptional artisan cheeses for over three generations. Originally a traditional dairy farm, the Maxwell family began experimenting with cheesemaking in the late 1980s, leading to the creation of some of Northumberland’s most celebrated cheeses.

Doddington Dairy is best known for its flagship Doddington Cheese, a unique fusion of Red Leicester, Cheddar, and Gouda influences. This unpasteurised, long-matured cheese develops a crystalline texture and a rich, nutty, caramel-like flavour over 12 months of careful ageing. Another standout, Admiral Collingwood, named after the esteemed British naval commander, showcases the dairy’s dedication to quality and tradition.

Using milk from their own herd of Ayrshire, Friesian, and Normandy cows, freshness and provenance are at the heart of everything Doddington Dairy produces. The milk is piped directly from the milking parlour to the dairy, where it is transformed into award-winning cheeses and ice creams by the Maxwell family and their expert team.
